CHRISTMAS SPECIAL 2025
LUDLOW
Grey, dank & miserable, enough about Pete Jolley, however the weather was similar.
Good turnout with 26 making the trip, which included two new members, Clive Taylor and Nigel Weaver, welcome both. Two returnees, Tony Owo and Kev Lloyd, welcome back and two guests Ross Sailes, who we know and Callus MacHattie, who is my nephew.
Vic bought a ray of sunshine to the day, sporting a bright yellow shirt with “Worcester Worriers” on it, which we had worn some time ago at a charity event.
As previously mentioned, the weather was not pleasant and the course was only just open due to the fog, however the going was good or good to soft in places and once we got moving, we soon warmed up.
Everyone made it on time and apart from the first group, El Capitano used a different method to select the starting places. As people arrived, they paid their £1 for a sweep card, which also determined that sweepee’s starting slot.
This resulted in both guests playing without their sponsor, but mixed things up and Callum was very happy not having to play with me. Ross obviously didn’t miss the old mans coaching, coming in with 40 points.
For those who have never played Ludlow, it is in and around the horse racetrack, with the 1st hole running alongside the finishing straight and some marquees. The track itself is not OB but the marquees are which Sam Marshall managed to hit off the tee, resulting in a blob and hence a fine.
I was fined for running up the back of Robbo, a bit harsh as he had suddenly stopped in front of me whilst I was admiring the view.
Big Al started off like a train with a couple of pars and a couple of bogies, unfortunately his alter ego “what the F are you doing” turned up on the back straight and he fell away.
We had some new NP markers, which Robbo remembered for once, however they were not used by us on NP2 but were on NP.
Robbo hit a soaring shot onto the green, the marker was deployed around 15 feet from the hole. 3 putts later and bit of cursing, we moved on.
Not too much else was reported however I did witness McD’s approach into 18 along with 6 other people enjoying a drink and cabaret from behind the clubhouse window.
Fines galore, mostly for blobs and 3 putts contributed over £70 to the charity with my nephew, having drawn Ross in the sweep donating the lot.
Once the fog had lifted the results were.

A good day despite the weather and next is the second leg of the Winter Cup in February at Bewdley Pines.
